and then some...

oh my where do I start. Lots of news this week. Good news. Well first, my brother Mike and his family just moved this weekend. They are in a little town on the Oregon coast called Waldport. They've been there for a few years. Four I think. They just moved this weekend to Seal Rock. Which is about 20min up the coast (between Newport and Lincoln City)They found a house up there so that's good news.

Then we learned this weekend that Arizona is getting three new temples. This HUGE for us! The only temple we have right now is the Mesa, Temple. (the one you see in the middle of my banner up there. They announced last month there is one going in Gilbert (not far from where I work) and one in Gila Valley. Then Friday the Church announced they are going to build one in the Phoenix area! The church is growing here, along with the size of the communities. This Valley of the Sun is not what it used to be and it's for the better.

I'll save the best for last. I was chit chatting on IM with my sister in law Michelle and she informed that Angel (my other sister in law) is pregnant for the third time. This is my brother that just graduated from med school and is in the army. Oh yea and Happy Memorial to them and a Big THANK YOU!

ready for a crazy week..

I'm trying to lay low this weekend, gearing up for our first big summer/birthday party (for Carl but we're not calling it his birthday!) bash! The evites have gone out and I am a little suprised and thrilled with the responses. You guys are AWSOME! We have amazing friends! What would I do without you?! I really don't want people to feel like they have to bring something but if they want to they can. Di is doing a better than sex chocolate cake for Carls bday and others are bringing appetizers and things. I have decided to go with Carls famous ribs and my pulled pork. We'll also do brauts and chicken. I have been doing research - for the best deals all weekend. Tomorrow I get to pull out the check book! LOL! YIKES! But I am so excited to do this party. If you don't come you'll be missing out on the best ribs ever! (next to my mom's of course!)

So my projects this week, will be: Finishing the backyard. Just a little bit more weeding and fine tuning. I also want to decorate the patio a little better. We'll see what the budget permits. That includes hooks in the laundry room for swimsuits and towels. We will need them the rest of the summer too. Inside the house - I just need to finish the picture hanging business.

Tomorrow I just have to work till noon, then it's shopping, shopping shopping. Then Carls parents are coming over for dinner.

Oh we did see the new Indiana Jones movie on Friday night. I am not sure on it. I liked most of it. And found it to be pretty entertaining - the alien part was STUPID! That's all I say about it so I won't spoil it. But the ending was cheesy and stupid!!

Oh since it is Sunday I should mention that we met our Home teachers today. Well one of them and his son. His partner was out of town for the weekend. Very nice. He even left us with a spiritual message. It was really funny - our previous home teachers in 30th ward we got to be really good friends with. So often, we would just visit and then pray and call it good. LOL! Not that's bad either but they were always there if we needed them. I am looking forward to meeting the new ones. Hopefully we can get to know them as well.

Although today I missed the old ward. We still feel really new in this ward. It's okay. It will just take time. It's a really BIG ward too. It was funny though our Home teacher was suprised we haven't had a calling yet. I told him if the Bishop calls tonight - he's in big trouble!

is MRI's are meant of some sort of torture chamber to test to see if your normal or not! That's an a hour and half I'd like to have back and never repeat! They suck! At least the dye didn't have the side affects like the one in the hospital did. Let's hope I'm normal!!

102 and counting

That's right. It's official-we hit our first 100 degree tempt today. Fortunately for us we spent the majority of it in church! Speaking of church we finally have new home teachers in our new ward!
This ward is HUGE and they've just reorganized things so it's been a little scratchy. Anyway it's toasty outside. We had everyone over for a BBQUE yesterday again. The water is 80* I am sure it will be 85 tomorrow. It's like bathwater! So it will be perfect for the party!I think when it hits 105 Maggie might just jump in the pool! We tried to get her in yesterday but no go. We even carried Bilko in. (he wasn't getting in by himself either!) and Maggie went ballistic! Carl had Bilko in the water and Maggie started frantically pacing the edge of the pool and barking loudly at Carl. She let him know she did NOT approve! Then when we set Bilko on the patio she had to check him out to make sure Bilko was okay!

We enjoyed church today. We're both feeling better and it's nice to sit through a whole meeting without aches and pains for either one of us. Boy that makes us sound old! LOL! I am slowly starting to meet the members in our neighborhood. Today I met Sis. Barney who lives on the street behind us. I am painfully shy (believe it or not) I have a difficult time introducing myself. I am not comfortable at all. Once I get to know people I am okay, Carl is that way as well. He's more out going than I am but we have a tendency to stick to what's comfortable for us. We do well with people we've known for a long time. But we do like the chance to meet new people we just don't do it very well. Does that make sense?

I am hoping for a good but busy week. Making up some hours at work for last week, and painting some more on the house. I promise to post painting pictures here soon. I just have to get batteries for the camera. This week's projects, The laundry room (it leads out the pool) I need to hang more hooks for beach towels and swim suits - and hopefully change the dreaded dk blue walls in the kitchen.

1. It's Chris and Michelles Anniversary. Don't ask me what# I know I'm terrible! Sorry guys, I know they got married a year or two before we did. I think it's 12 for them too. But I can never remember! HAPPY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

2. We have a HUGE Birthday Bash for Carl on the 31st. EVERYONE and their dog is invited. Literally! LOL! So if you read this and you haven't gotten an e-invite please leave me a comment. I am missing some email address!!!! (hence my looking for the long ext. cord so I can finish yard work for the party!)

I try to catch up on the news every so often. I try to read the caption stories on Foxnews.com in the evening before I go to bed.

The one that intriqed me the most was the story about two boys on a road trip. 48states in 5 days! Now theres a road trip. Of course they said they were going 160miles per hour and saw 90 cop cars but never got pulled over!! They broke a record- that's what they were trying to achieve. Now that's not something you hear every day! BTW- they are from Salt Lake City, Utah! LOL!

Oh in other news: I went back to work today! The eye is still a little swollen around the outside but it's GREATLY improving. I keep thinking it wasn't that bad, but Carl reminds me how bad it was on Sunday and it was necessary to go the ER. He just thinks we should have skipped the Urgent Care and gone straight to the ER. But I hope I don't have to go back for a LONG LONG time!!!

the er and other things...

So I mentioned this eye thing that's been somewhat irritated the last week or so. I went to the dr on Wed. It didn't get much better over the weekend. In fact it got worse. It was really bad last night. The burning and the itching - it's swollen on the outside and inside. So this morning I woke up and had trouble opening it. It had yellow discharge. Which I didn't know started last night when I had the cold wash rag but it was too dark to see. So after Carl got back from therapy we decide to go to Urgent Care because I really didn't want to go to the ER. Well I did all the tests again. I flunked the eye test worse this time than I did on Wed. He said it was either Celliulitus or an infection on the inside of my eye, which would be really bad. So he sent me to the ER.
We have a new hospital up the street that just opened less than a year ago. Wow! I was impressed they took my right in. I was one of few people. I got checked throughly.They did a ct scan right away. It's at a stage 2 infection. I can treat at home. Stage 3 and I'm in trouble and get admitted. So I am glad we didn't wait. We don't know the cause of it yet, except they some times it can't start with allergies and then progresses. It is VERY contagious. I probably shouldn't be typing but I'm on my computer and I've washed my hands really good. I have to see an ophthalmologists first thing in the morning. He may or may not clear me to go back to work. We'll see. So that's it for now, hopefully I'll be able to go back to work by Wed!

busy, busy busy.

It seems like the days just aren't long enough anymore. I need about four more hours in the day just so I can unwind.
I also went to therapy with Carl today so that he could drop me off at the dr on the way to his work. It was SO nice to see Tom and Katie! Katie is the assistant that worked with me everyday for sooooo sooo long! It was kinda nice to see other people in there doing the same excersises!
That was fun! For me at least. Carl not so much. He's really sore. They are trying to get more motion - so they are stretching him more - therefore more pain.

The dr's appt was for my eyes! The swelling and burning is now affecting my vision. I has been blurry for a few days now. Let's just say I flunked the eye test! I couldn't read the bottom two rows especially when they had me cover my left eye. Yea duh that's the one that's swollen! My reg dr has a3mo wait list! Is that crazy! So I saw this new guy! I was getting desperate. I am allergic to something else (lovely!) we just don't know what! But he gave me a stronger dose of eye drops and if the swelling persists I'll got to an optometrist or Insta Care if it gets really bad again.

I did the spare room painted. I will post pictures of it tomorrow. (batteries on camera died!)
Something I've really been into lately is cards. I have started looking into this stamping thing! It's just as big as scrapbooking. I really like a lot of the styles. Cards will never go out of style right?! I have LOTS of cards to do for may birthdays.
Liz's is the 24th (plus she's doing a big play right now)
Chris and Michelle's Anniv. is the 16th
Alexis is the 17th
Brittons is the 30
Carl and Shelbys is the 31st.
(plus I still want to send a card to shea for graduation!)

Speaking of which - today is the 7th of May!

It is also our 4yr anniversary of moving to Arizona! No normally I'm not one to celebrate those wierd anniversary dates or anything but that was a BIG one for us.
In four years we've come ALONG way!

We literally moved down here with NO money in our pocket, we were still trying to sell the house in Salt Lake. Carl was interviewing like crazy for legal jobs with his new degree. He had been flying down here about once a month prior for interviews and testing. It was a grueling process. Until he landed the job and AZ Supreme Court. Thanks to Dian he has the best job in the world - for the most part! I have been with the Scrapbook Barn almost that long. Except for my brief intermission at the NCL cruise line.

We now own a home, which in its self is a pretty amazing accomplishment!I didn't think it was possible! It was a pretty spectacular feeling today to jump into OUR pool. (which by the way we have managed to get the chemical balance under control, with NO manuals, instructions, etc etc.!) I loved that I could do laps and NO one would care! I love that the water is 75* and the fact that I have figured out how to beat yellow algae! Did I mention that part!!It's fabulous! We've come a long way baby!

4.Get Dog food, cleaning supplies and lawn supplies.
5. Wash the car-bought all the stuff to do it in the driveway!
6.Get the lawn sprayed with fertilizer and weed killer.
7. Go back to Target for more bug spray for the pool patio

11.Clean out pool chlorinator (finding out it has to be acid washed every two months! That would have been nice to know! We have no manual to go off of- it's been VERY frustrating) I didn't know the chlorinator came apart. It's the cell box attatched to the pump that produces chlorine from the salt. It's been putting out too much salt and no chlorine so we have developed yellow algae. It's been a battle for a while! Hopefully now that I got the cell cleaned it will be better. We did notice the water features are flowing MUCH better since we've done that!
12. Spray all the patios front and back - that was tough but we won't have bugs - of any sort including scorpions or ticks (something I was a little concerned with the dogs!) The treatment is good for 9 months! YEAH! We also had the house sprayed inside and out when the termite guy came before we moved in. So we better not have ANY thing creepy crawly in or outside of the house!!
WhEW! I'm tired!

and because I'm bored too and I have too much on my brain to do a normal post. As you can see I haven't posted since Saturday! I've gotten very bad. So I stole Dawn's post again! I hope she doesn't mind.
