work is interesting. The bosses came back from CHA convention (the biggest annual scrapbook convention!) Teresa did show and tell for us today and showed all the new lines coming in!This is one of my favoritethings about this job. My favorites lines so are Sweetwater (my all time favorite!) and WeRMemories! I LOVE their stuff! I love their colors and their paper patterns! She is all for my Sports class and even ordered more pet stuff for my pet classes and said there is tons of sports stuff coming in too. Oh I've also been upgraded at work. I am "Crew Chief" now. I am an "assistant manager". I am staying later in the days. They need some one to be there after Robyn leaves with the high school girls and on Saturdays. But on Saturdays I only have to work four hours. Whatever hours I want as long as I don't go over 40 in the week. But we are not telling the girls what my schedule will be, so I don't get stuck at the registar by myself (which used to happen alot back in the old days). So that's good. Although one of them called in for Friday and wanted me to stay till 7:30pm and I go in at 9am. We are really short staffed this week. With four of them gone to convention and then one of the other ladies I work with, her daughter was admitted in the hospital last night with this same stomach stuff. I told the girl who wants me to stay on Friday she' gonna have to find someone else. I'm off tomorrow for MY Cardiologist appt. But I'll call and see what Robyn wants me to work. But the good thing is I get a raise out of it. Yes, it's a glorified babysitting job. But thats okay. I'm learning to do management stuff on our computers which will be good!

Alexis went back to school today. She is a tough cookie. She's taking it slow. But after 2 1/2 wks of no school I would almost be antsy to go back too. Just to get out of the house. She just has to be careful and not carry any heavy stuff and if she gets worn out she can call Christy.

Christy took Janet to her Cardiologist appt. They have a echo cardiogram schedule for the 12th. Then they are doing CT scans and an ultra sound on her Thyroid to see what's going on there and how to treat it. I think that one is on the 12th because her followup for her cardiologist isn't till March. So I don't know if that means she's staying here in Arizona till March. Mostly likely. Just with us on some weekends.

Carl learned who his new boss will be starting next month after his current boss retires. Speaking of which we have the SuperBowl party at his house and we are REALLY looking forward to it! They are very disappointed in chosen person, they wanted someone who works in another dept that was up for the job too. But they picked someone from out of state but very qualified. Carl and everyone is very sad but trying to stay really positive about the whole thing. My heart hurts for them. They have a wonderful office right now.

I'm off tomorrow thank goodness! I just have my appt and then relaxing. Buster has another ear infection. He may have to go back into the vet. I was hoping the surgery would stop that. But we've had so much rain here, that moisture has not helped! Poor Buster he's not happy camper right now. We went to Petco and got him some stuff to help the itch and clear up some of the bacteria I'll make an appt for him tomorrow.

Weekend ReCap

Thur - My class in the a.m. - one of my easier class. I made $60 so I can't complain!

Friday - Alexis was released from the hospital (eating solid foods I might add!)
early in the afternoon!! YEAH!!! That was definately the best part of the weekend!

Saturday - nothing too exciting, It was my Saturday to work. We postponed the Pampered Chef party due to Alexis getting out early. Carl and his mom went to Sue's Karate Tournament and Sue and Shane came over later after dinner. I am helping her with some photos for work.

Sun - We actually did get to church today but it was just Sacrement meeting. We have a teeny tiny congregation. Which is okay too. Very friendly. We met the ward clerk. We made dinner for Alexis. She wanted Chicken alfredo. Last week Carl made a sauce from scratch. We added bacon, and green onions to the dish and it was YUMMY! I also am learning how to make Apple Pie, so I can help Carl with a pie cookoff at work. The crust turned out awsome as did my apples, but the mixture was wrong. Actually it was right for the recipe we had. Carl wanted to do a swedish apple pie, but it was REALLY thick in the middle, I think we were thinking it would be more like American Apple Pie but it wasn't. Then we remembered the apple pie they have at IKEA is like that. So it was Swedish apple pie and not American Apple Pie.
Carl got impatient with the first crust we did, so I tried a different recipe and it worked better. The one from Crisco.com is really dry. So we tried a different one from FOOD NETWORK (our newest addiction!) and it worked much better! We'll give it another go next week. I think we've been watching way too much FOOD TV! Ha Ha! But this week is the best! Super Bowl week!!

We just got back from seeing Alexis. I don't know if I have told you but she is 14. She's a tough little 14yr old! We got there this evening, and she was walking around. She was so excited to show me first that they had pulled her nose tube out. She still has IV's and a little tube running through her neck but it's not in her nose. And she still has her regular IV's. They took her leg things off too. They had these leg things on her that were supposed to keep her blood circulation going. She's so tiny anyway. She showed me a little bit of her scar. She's gonna have a doozy. But she was in good spirits and laughing. We kept teasing her, they want her to 'pass gas' and stuff to make sure everything down there is working properly. So we keep telling her to fart more! hee hee! How fun for a 14yr old girl! ha ha! But she's great! I am so excited for her that her tube is out! She will start a liquid diet tomorrow. She kept telling us she was hungry and that is a really good sign too. Her stomach is healing! She will probably have to be careful for a while. They are still looking at Friday for a going home day, that's almost an excact week from when she went in. She went in on Friday night. But she is doing lots better. I am giving her stuff to her tomorrow.

it just gets better...

Actually Alexis is doing better. It's been an scary couple of days. She will be in the hospital probably till at least Friday. Christy helped her shower and wash her hair today but it's very sore for her to move around. They may take her nose tube out tomorrow, depending on how she
does, but her cathedar is out.
I made her this cute little lunch box tin I am going to fill it with lotion and cute kleenex tissues (the decorative ones you can buy at hallmark). And smelly stuff. Then tomorrow we are going to build a bear for her.

My class is tomorrow. I actually have 5 people in it! YEAH! I might make some money! I also got the go ahead to do a sports class. I think it will be a blast. I'll start with layouts and do some home decor stuff. We'll see how it goes.

It's been a wet and rainy day today. We met Sue and Di and Sue's boys for the Boy scouts pancake breakfast. We did it last year with them. We didn't stay very long, Christy had called and told us that she was at the ER at Desert Sam with Alexis. She was not doing very well. We had already knew or 'thought' she had a ovarian cist.
But that clearly was not the case.
As we learned later througout the day, it was much more serious. There was blockage in her intestines and her bowels were messed up. They tried to put a tube through her nose to drain it. That didn't work, so they did an emergency surgery on her this evening. They went in and fixed her intestines and her bowels. She going to be better but she will stay in ICU tonight and probably tomorrow. She will be in the hospital probably 4or 5 days. It's scary but I am glad that they found it and were able to fix it. I just hope she doesn't have any complications.
Herb was unable to escape this nasty flue virus that is going around. He ended up with it. He's doing better though. He got more a mild case like Christy. He's doing better today. We stopped by there today (they are staying at Christy's.) It's all quite sad really! I hope no one else gets this nasty flue business and if they do PLEASE GET BETTER!!

So I get this wierd message on my cell phone at work, I didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer it right away. So we get home and listen to the message. This is how it goes... it's some guy
"hey dude.. I met you in front of Target, you said you had some pot can you hook me up?!!" hey left this message on my cell phone!!!! I couldn't believe it! So anyway we are at home and he CALLS BACK! So I let Carl answer it.
"hey whose this?!" "who's this?!" the guy says? The guy immediately starts to say "Oh I think I have the wrong number!" He starts to panic a little. Carl says "just a piece of advice don't leave messages looking for pot on people's cell phone" Carl was cool with him, but I think the guy sounded a bit funny.

On another funny note, Carl tried to renew our subscription to Sports Illustrated. He and his dad have the same initials and first names my Carl is Carl Howard his dad is Carl Herbert. See the problem?! Anyway, somehow when he pulled up his account he pulled up his dads address in Utah. His dad's been getting our Packers stuff! LOL! I should have a Packers fleece. So Carl calls his dad just kidding and says "where's all my Packers stuff" and his dad says "Oh I have it at home somewhere!" LOL! I want my Packers blanket!! How's that for Friday!! HA HA!

Snoopy is one of my favorite characters. Since I have so much time on my hands, being home taking care of Carl, I got bored last night!
He's doing better but he had a fever last night. His head was just soaked but at least the throwing up has stopped and he's sleeping. We're both off again today. I'll have to work the weekend to make up the hours but that's alright.
Janet is home. They are sending her to a DR here, she will see a Thyroid specialist. But she's doing MUCH better, it's night and day difference so that's good. We've kept Herb away so he won't get sick. I was up till about 3am trying break his fever and it seems to be gone now. It was kinda funny for some reason I had the song "Hotel California" stuck in my head this morning! LOL!

Update on Janet, she's doing better. Her heart is in better shape than every body thought, it's her thyroid that is causing all the trouble. And her dilatin that is still really low. She will probably be in the hospital till Thur or Friday. The good news is her fever is broke and she can go to the bathroom on her own. HUGE good news there. Her IV got a little infected because they left it in too long. But they took care of that. The antibotics are working, she still has phenomnia but at least her fever is gone.
It gets better. Christy left the hospital throwing up as did Carl. They are both home today and throwing up and coming out both ends.Isn't this just lovely. I feel terrible because everyone is SOO sick, while I am getting better. The antibotics are working and I didn't have the throwing up business. Knock on HARD wood!! The antitbotics have wierd side affects, but Janet gets the same one, so we are in that one together! ha ha!
I just hope this passes quickly!

in other news: drs appt. today revealed what I already knew. I have bronchitis. And an ear infection. Not just in one ear but BOTH ears. They were flaming. My right ear more than my left. I knew I could hear a hollow sound!ha ha no jokes there either! And an echo in my head. It's been getting harder to breath, taking deep breaths. ' weezing in my lungs' as she called. In fact when she listened to me I could not take a deep breathe. She had me do a breathelizer thing (sp?!) where you breathe in the liquid medication, I couldn't do it. So I get a shot in the butt too!Gotta love steroids!
Isn't that lovely for a Friday! Then I went back to work! I sound like someone has put a pillow over my head. Although I am sure I will have no sound over my head if that were the case! But I feel okay. I had only the few days last weekend where I felt really crappy. Unfortantely, now Carl's got it. I have an antibotic besides that I have to pick up tomorrow. Otherwise I feel relatively normal. And still no cough! Thank the Good Lord! She said that she (oh by she I mean my other dr that I like!)lost her voice a week or so ago and it was the first time she's ever had to miss work. As a dr it's a lot harder for them to take time off. She said they had to send her patients to everyone else for a week, she just couldn't talk. She said mine will most likely go away totally like hers did before it comes back.

On a funny note - It's funny the dogs hear me but they just give this blank look, their expressions say " We see your lips moving but we hear nothing coming out of your mouth!" "Is she trying to tell us something?!" Not to mention that it is raining. Let me just say that shih tzus and rain and mud DON'T mix! They WILL NOT get their butts wet. Even if it means pooping on gravel or the sidewalk. At least it's not in the house any more! Thank heavens! Buster still lives in the closet. He has a bed in their that they stay in when we're not home. I think his arthritis bugs him and when it's cold and wet doesn't help. They are like people.

So as a result we ordered Chinese and did a stay at home night. It's all good!

Good news: The four hours of watching cartoons paid off!! I am feeling better! The nose has finally decided to give the kleenex a break!
Bad news: It seems bronchitis is on the brink. My voice is slowly fading. Which is fine with me. I'd much rather have that. And I don't have the cough so I'm happy! See I'm easy to please!!
These weird weather tempt are throwing people off. It's almost spring outside which is good.
I have come to the conclusion I am a Summer girl! I can NOT function in the cold. Last week when the tempt dropped to freezing I stop functioning. My brain just protests the cold! Which is another reason we live in ARIZONA!! Ha ha! It's supposed to cool off again next week because of these violent winter storms everywhere else, like Denver and Seattle and Salt Lake. We get some small minor affects from that. Cooler tempts and the mountains get snow, but as long as that cold wet white stuff stays UP there - I'm a happy camper!!

Symptoms: Runny nose, raw nose, stuffed up head, fever and chills, lack of energy and appetite.

Cures: a warm/hot bathtub, There is something theraputic about soaking in water as hot as you can stand it and letting the steam rise up your nose. It brings the energy back into your body naturally. It's a soothing comforting sensation.

Foods: water lots and lots of cold water. Comfort foods. Mashed potatos. Ramen (or your own version of Chicken noodle soup). Orange juice.

Entertainment: Food Channel. Football, travel channel. Disney channel or Toon Disney as I prefer. Cartoons are best in PJs with a box of kleenex and your OWN remote control!

Do you have a better way to cure the common flue?! If so share. I am open to any suggestions that might clear up a plugged up head!! HA HA, no jokes!

Thursday: After work went shopping. Bought two new pair of jeans. Had an eternaly long staff meeting.

Friday:Had dinner at Native with Christy and Janet. I fell coming out of the parking lot. Fortunately the median that I fell on had grass. I had flash back of the wipe out last year at the Diamond Backgame, when I did some damage to my hands and knees. Fortunately no wounds to report, just feeling silly. Spent some time with Christy and Alexis helping her with some stuff.

Saturday: Fighting off a headcold and the head cold won. Spent most of the day in bed. Mostly it's just my throat that hurts. And blowing my nose A LOT! Saturday watched an incredible game. Dallas Vs. Seattle! WOW! What a game! The Seattle touchdown that was turned into a saftey. And then the Dallas QB Tony Romo fumbling the last play of the game. What the heck happened?! All I know is I am happy with the outcome and the win for Seattle! We like Tony Romo he's just playing for the wrong team. And he pouted a little before the game was even over!

Sunday: more NFL playoff games. There are some good games despite Green Bay not being there. It's the Giants instead. The nice part about being sick is I can stay in my PJ's and watch football and not feel guilty! GO SEATTLE!!

I am feeling very optimistic about this year and being in a brand new place, helps that, but we're lovin it so far! And Dawn - I am not ready to admit that Brett Favre will retire this year. I am PRAYING he has one more year! I am optimistic that he has ONE More!!
