So let me tell you about my weekend. After the dr on Friday it went smooth for the most part. Carl wasn't feelin so hot. He's got the congestion now, and Christy and Janet weren't feeling so good. This stuff is going around like wildfire. Every body just assumed it was the good old fashioned flue and bronchitis. Even the Dr. Well, we got a call around 6am Saturday morning from Christy to take Janet to the E.R. she's been throwing up and the other stuff out the other end! How else do you say that mildly?! Anyway, she wasn't doing good. We didn't know she had a fever of a 102 until we got her to the E.R. She threw up once in the car on the way there and then in the parking lot. We knew it was bad. So they got her in and we really didn't have to wait all that long to get her in. She's also epilsey?! (sp?!) where you have seizures. She's taken her medication but has thrown it all up. So it's probably been 24hrs since she's had it. So they were very urgent on taking care of that. She was fully concience and aware and in good spirits for the most part. But she was swelling up like a ballon. We relized later that she was lacking oxygen so they put her on oxygen and started her iv's right away. They gave her 5 pills of her dialatin (the anti seizure stuff) to get her levels to normals. And her potassium had bottomed out. The test results came back with bronchitis and pnemonia which she's had for some time. They also are doing full workups on her chest for her heart. She had a heart attack five years ago and has been needed to see a regular cardiologist but she won't go to one. But now she doesn't have a choice. They admitted her, which we knew they would. She is doing much better today. She still has a fever, but she slept last night for a change. She's got two really good day nurses. Natalie and Justin, they are GREAT with her. They keep telling her she HAS to tell them how she feels, whether she wants to or not. She has no control over anything as far as bodily functions (I don't know how to put that delicately but you get the idea) go. But they are very gentle with her and very sweet. Even Justin, she'll let Justin take care of her now, she wasn't so sure at first. She will be seeing a cardiologist probably today or tomorrow, there is some fluid build up in her heart and they are keeping a close eye on that too. She will be in the hospital for some time, but now she can get all that stuff taken care of. They are also looking at her thyroid because it's out of control and they think that might be causing the swelling. Carl is home today and decided not to go up to the hospital to avoid getting her more sick, it's killin him to, but he has to get better. Christy is staying with her and Herb will be here in the morning. He had gone back to Salt Lake, she was gonna stay for a couple weeks.
It's amazing the medical technology they have these days. They can do soo much now. It's silly to be sick and feel miserable when there is so much that can make us better. It's really silly to be sick but when you are sick you are sick and it's hard to just relax and take the time to get better and fight to stay healthy. I have been sicka lot of my life. With my heart and my sinuses. But there is so much they can do to make life a lot more tolerable. I am truly greatful for modern medicine.
