Happy Happy Birthday
To the best husband EVER! Today is Carls birthday! And also our niece Shelby's! Our nephew Britton was yesterday! Happy Birthday everybody!!

Carl had a great birthday. He worked today, lots of meetings and a party this morning. I made a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting for him to take. He has wonderful friends and a great job!

We got his golfclubs on Monday! The one thing he really wanted. Me, Christy, Herb and Janet all went in on a set. He found a really nice one, with a nice bag and putter. All the stuff he was looking for.

We had dinner tonight with friends and then my family called on the cell phone, so I put them on speaker phone while we were at the resturaunt and they sang Happy Birthday! That was a really sweet thing!

I hope the kids had a great birthday! I hope everyone got their cards!! Happy Birthday honey!!!

I hope the picture in my banner isn't too fussy. Strawberries are one of my favorite things. I can't eat them anymore. Or I shouldn't eat them anymore but they are a favorite summer time treat. I LOVE strawberry shortcake and Angel Food cake with cool whip and strawberries. So that's why I decided to go with the banner. ha ha! It's says summer to me!

Is it really Tuesday already!? WOW! Monday went by in the blink of an eye. Literally. I worked a short shift on Monday and then we spent the day shopping for Carls Bday. He came away with a new set of golf clubs. Since his last set was stolen from our 4runner last Thanksgiving. So he is a happy camper! Or golfer I should say!

The MRI people called today! Dang that was FAST even for a Holiday weekend. That means the insurance approved it. So I have my MRI on Thursday and hopefully have surgery scheduled then! I am apprehensive about MANY MANY things about it and a little scared, but more excited than anything! It's been a long time coming!!

We did make it to church today! And last night I went WAY out of my comfort zone! Carl told the Elders Quorum Pres we would go to this little function they had last night. I so am not comfortable in these situations. I don't do well with groups of people - especially if I don't know them from Adam! We went. I wasn't happy about it. But it wasn't as bad I thought it would be. But man - we are so much older than most of these couples, families in the ward. They are in their early - mid twenties, some still in school. A couple of kids. Some newlyweds. We are ten years older than most of them. I suppose that's why I feel so akward. We aren't the normal. It was fun - we did a taco/fiesta potluck. After dinner they told riddles. Some were hard, others I had heard already because me brother Chris is my walking encyclopedia (I LOVE my brother!). Thanks to him I knew the answers already! LOL!

I will save my Memorial Day post till tomorrow. The official holiday. In the meantime hope everyone had a great weekend! We watched movies the rest of the weekend (See post below!)

Weekend Movies

We finally got this one on our netflix list. I really liked Night at Museum. It was cute. I really liked Ben Stillers character. The animals were pretty amazing. It was just fun movie.
The Emperors New Groove has been on Disney all weekend. It's a favorite for both of us. But it's been a while since we had seen it. I watched the rest of it today. I might have to buy both of these!
Tomorrow we are going to try and see Shrek the 3! I only have to work till noon and Carl is off!!

I will not have PT (Physical therapy) yet. I went to the specialist today, the diagonsis was only partially right. There is nothing holding my knee caps in place. The therapy won't do any good.
So he has ordered an MRI just to make sure what he thinks is right, that my ligiments are torn. He moved me around today (my knees) and it hurt! ALOT. He was rather surprised. They like to pop when they do that. Go figure. So I get an MRI and anti inflamatory's for a week, just so the insurance will cover the surgery. Then we'll go from there. But it's pointless to do the PT. He said I may want to save it till after the surgery because the insurance will only cover up to 8 sessions.
It will be both knees. My left knee as I've mentioned before is far worse. My knee caps just floating there sort of. It was wierd to see the xrays myself and for Carl. We kept saying "WOW!"
Oh and here's the funny part - I have arthritis in both knees. Not so bad but it's there! I said "I'm only 33 yrs old!" What happens when I'm 60!!! YIKES!

1. I was shaving Buster this morning, trying to get him ready for summer. We bought a new razor set last night. They razor blew in my hand. Sparks went flying, it was smoking. I could feel it getting hot in my hand. I have a spray that cools it normally. But it doesn't get that hot. I used to use it after. So we have a half shaved Buster, at least he's half cool! HA HA!

2. I ate a whole bowl of Mac N Cheese all by myself! I guess I was hungry this morning.

3. I don't give a fly whoopdie doo, who wins American Idol!! LOL! I understand though it's a girl from AZ. It's all the rage here. All the girls at work are excited about it. I won't watch it tonight!

4. I forgot to do laundry last night, so did Carl so we had to scramble last night so he would have something to wear to work (see Dave it's not just you! ha ha!)

I will have more to add this afternoon! HA HA!

Relaxation...
Finally had a day to unwind. We didn't make it to church today. Carls parents left this morning around the same time that we get ready to go to church. We're both exhausted. But they are doing w
ell (Carls parents) and will be heading back.
This week should be good. I worked on cards today. The scans didn't turn out great. They look better in person. Lots of birthdays this month. I think I mentioned it earlier.

I did get to my friends baby shower on Sat and I am so glad! It was a lot of fun and
it was really nice to see a lot of us outside of work!

I have been in so many different moods and emotions this week and the week is only half over.

Happy - The Suns won game 4 in San Antonio (we won't talk about the suspensions and fines that were handed out in that game that's an ANGRY emotion!)

Frustrated - with work schedules and girls that won't get their shift covered and just expect everyone to bail them out with minutes notices.

Sad- I am only able to go to part of my friends baby shower due to the scheduling conflict (she works with us and that's part of the problem) We've become good friends and this is her first baby I was going to help her out. I am only going to be there to stop in.

Still a little sad - about the death of Pres. Thompsonl. I am okay as long as I don't think about it. It is happy memories and happy times it just seems so strange that he has passed on. We'll see him again I know that, but there's still a sad feeling.

Comforted - I talked to my dear friend Michelle (former MTC mission companion) we talked much of Pres. Thompson and our mission and friends. We both had a hard time hanging up, we could talk forever. We've always been able to do that. I'm excited though because we get to see her and her cute little family in August!!

Nervous - OHH I hope the Suns win tonight even being out two star players!! I believe they will win. I am just thankful they are playing at home.

I am impressed that the Jazz pulled it out and won their series against the Warriors!

OY - I just found out my dentist appt is in the a.m. I totally spaced it!! Where is my head!!

A Tribute
Late last night I had a weird feeling to check my old hotmail account. I never use it, it's old email.
I forgot that the information from our LDS mission website goes there. There was a message posted as a tribute to our former and beloved mission President R. Paul Thompson. As I did further investigating I found that he had passed away last week. Carl and are SHOCKED and deeply saddened. I wish we would have known sooner. I would have given the world to attend his funeral in Washington (near St. George) Utah.
President Thompson was gentle and firm. He was talented both musically and scripturally. He knew his scriptures. His testimony was profound. He had a direct impact on mission as I struggled both spiritually and physically. He is the reason I returned to the same mission after coming home with knee surgery. I remember sitting in my aunt and uncles kitchen and my uncle called and told me that Pres. Thompson was on the phone. We talked for a long time. I went back only to return home 6 months later with the same knee problems (that hopefully will be fixed very soon). The last time I heard from him was Christmas before we moved to Arizona. We had sent Christmas cards and such off and on over the years. They had served back in our mission area as Seattle Temple President and last I knew had returned home from Philippines Temple President. He also wrote the hymn "Ye Elders of Isreal". We knew it backwards and forwards!
It's kinda funny because just yesterday Carl had mentioned in Desert Bookstore, there was a book on the hymns and there history. He said there was picture of Pres. Thompson. But it wasn't a very good picture.
I don't know what he died from. I know towards the end of our mission (this was 12yrs ago)he was very sick. I knew he had some health issues then. He was in his 70's. My heart hurts.
I know he is in a good place but I have such dear fond memories of him and our mission and mission companions and friends. Whom I need to get in touch with. A lot of them like Dav, and Michelle, we have remained friends and I am forever thankful!!
Here is a picture of me with the Thompsons at a zone transfer right after I came back.
This one is Carl and Pres& Sis Thompson and the Woodbury's who took their place after the Thompsons were released

I know I really need a new banner. I haven't had a lot of spare time lately. The inlaws are here this week for Mothers Day and we have six bdays this next two weeks. Ingers the 12th, Alexis the 17th, My sisters the 24th,Carls and Shelbys the 31st. Brittons the 30th.

Carls parents will be here till the end of next week. They will be here only for a short time. Janet is doing much better and looking much better. They have a good specialist up there, she has another follow up next week. (another reason they aren't staying as long).

It's getting warm finally. I think we are approaching official "Arizona Summer!" we are at 105 for the high and climbing! Bring it on!!

I can't believe it's not broken!
I am totally shocked it wasn't broken! The head collide with SA Tony Parker caused 6 stitches in Steve Nash's nose! I haven't seen anything that bloody in this sport in a long time. Who says basketball's not a contact sport?!They tried to stop the bleeding with 2min left in the game. He (Nash) managed to nail a 3 pointer, bloody nose and all. But it didn't save us. They had to keep taking him out of the game to stop the bleeding. From the time Tony Parker spent wailing on the floor with no physical injury they could have stitched up Nash's nose and he could have played the last crucial two min. of the game. Would they have won?! We'll never know.
I do know that tonight's game is going to be intense. This series is perhaps the Championship series. It's been said here and in SA over and over again. These are the two best teams in the league and neither team is going down without a fight. Check out the Suns.com opening intro. It cracks me up! The battle in the west has begun!

I know I am late posting this, yesterday was HELL! It had nothing to do with sports. But that's over and we can move on and get past it. It's all good now.
GO SUNS!!!

Pretty well sucked rocks!! We went in without any expectations. We didn't know what to expect except that it was a huge sequel. The visual effects and fight scenes were excellent. But there
were some really stupid parts in it. It was fairly slow, even for a 2hr and 15min film.
The acting was better than 2 this time are around. I won't give any of it away - but don't go in with high expectations. I did like the sandman that was some cool effects. I'll talk about movie manners later on.. it's one of my biggest pet peeves! GRRR!

A Day Off....Happy May Day!
I started out good this morning. I went and go some lab work done this morning. I went to Michaels just to get out and look around. I also wanted to see the new Martha Stewart scrapbook line. I have been hearing about it on my scrapbook message boards and at work. It's exculsive to Michaels. Let's just say I'm SOOOOO not impressed. It's boring colors. Nothing really fun like fun prints or anything. It's a lot of earthtones and primary colors. The patterns are very old fashioned like Anne Griffin (scrapbookers will know this line) of papers. I didn't think the prices were too bad. About average. I heard that she had 18x18 size papers. The standard in the scrapbooking world is 12x12! I was SHOCKED! They were HUGE! What on earth would you do with a sheet of paper that big?!! The albums are huge too! Holy Cow! I am not suprised at all that Martha has gone this direction. I am just suprised she hasn't come out with a scrapbook magazine yet! Knock on HARD wood! HA HA!

We did get a little bit of a dust storm this afternoon and a little sprinkle. But then this evening the storm rolled back around again and we did get a good shower out of it and lightening. It's trying to heat up here but we're just not there yet. I think we barely reached 90 today!I still had the windows open until about 3pm when the dust storm came through. If you live here you know what it's like. There is nothing quite like it. A big cloud of dust so thick you can't see. It rolls across the valley and blows everything in it's path. Then it's over as quick as it came in. It's pretty amazing to watch it roll in. It's raining again. And that's a good thing!
