I stole the poll idea from Dawn! But we are contemplating getting another companion for Bilko and to help us with the grieving process. It has been very difficult to loose Buster for us and for Bilko. Bilko is just as much affected by it as we are. It's amazing. But when Christy and the parents move out we are very concerned that he will get lonely. It would be a really hard adjustment.
So we are in the hunt for another dog. I am not sure I am ready yet. I think Carl is.
We did get Busters paw print and really nice card from all of Busters's nurses. He was very well liked at Noes Ark. Michelle (my sister inlaw) was very sweet and made me a necklace with Busters pic as a charm and a very nice note. All three made us cry but that's okay it's part of the process.

Anyway here is a poll help us decide. We would love input and advice.

What Kind of Dog Should We Get?
Beagle
Cavalier King Charles
Lab(Yellow or Black)
Something Small
Something Big
Other Please explain...

For the Sake of Sanity
Because there has to be more to post than sadness. I think as far as the football game goes, I think the Packers themselves said it best on the Packers website, "That source of motivation will vary depending on the player. But no matter the individual, the prevailing feeling is that a foundation is in place for the Packers to give themselves another shot at the Super Bowl, and sooner rather than later.

"I think everybody around here knows that, at least inside this locker room," receiver Greg Jennings said. "We know what we've established."

I think you can look at that in life too. After going through hell from bad situations or whether it is to accomplish things you hope to and come away feeling that you will be a better person, or is it all just a bunch of crap to make ourselves feel better?!You decide! HA HA HA!

Heartbreak
I can't even bring myself to post the score! We were SOOOO close!! Must stay sane! It's just football. It's the end of a long painful week.At least we don't have to put a 2nd mortgage on the house for Super Bowl tickets. If the Packers came to town I'd sell the house! There is a light at the end of the tunnel right?!

Buster - Sept 1996-Jan2008
A Good & Faithful Friend After a long and scary night, we took Buster back to the vet this morning and at 3:15 pm he was comfortably put to sleep. It's the hardest thing Carl and I have had to do.
We got home from work last night and there was blood in his bed, on the carpet, all over him. Because of the tumor he had developed blood vessels on his tumor and they had popped then it would start over again. It was making it very difficult for him to breathe. We stayed up with him all night and cried. He started to whimper and made a loud cry about 4am. We learned today that it was possibly a mild stroke.
We know we made the right decision. We'll struggle for a few days but we know he is no longer suffering.

We learned today as we were leaving work that Buster does indeed have cancer. It's bone cancer and it's spreading fast. Tomorrow we will call the vet and see what to do. We cannot comprehend the sadness. We haven't dealt with this before, we've had Buster since he was two. Buster and Bilko have been our kids. My whole family has dogs. Dogs have been very much a part of our lives. They have been even growing up.
Some people say "It's just an animal" "it's just a dog" - it's not just a dog. His name is Buster. He's just as much a part of the family as a sibling.
I wish I could make him better but I can't and I don't know that the DR will do tomorrow.
I wish this was a happier post. Our hearts are broken.

Well it could always be worse. I suppose. Buster has a tumor. It's looking like cancer. There's the big c word! We just don't know what kind and how early it is. He doesn't seem to be in pain. We had his surgery done. They pulled 7 teeth. Actually most of them fell out. But the bleeding has stopped thank goodness. He's lost lots of blood. The tumor is in his mouth. Most of his lab work came back normal except for the liver enzym. It was high. But they thought maybe it was part of the infection or the cancer. We are waiting for the final lab results to come back. We will try to make him as comfortable as possible. We DO NOT want him to suffer. We are devestated. We've had him since he was two. He's now 12. We want the best for him. Hopefully we can treat it with medications. Hopefully it's early. There' a lot of hope - to keep him and us going.

A New Year, Hopefully a New Beginning
Crazy!!

The new year has started out pretty much the same as the last. Everyone is sick. First Christy, then Herbs foot. Then Janet, now the dogs and me. Yup the dogs too! LOL! Poor Poor Buster, he just hasn't been the same since he took that dip in the pool! He has a tooth infection and it's been bleeding for a week now. We've taken him to the vet, they gave him a heavy dose of antibiotics. We have to stick tissue or cotton in his mouth to stop the bleeding. Poor guy. He's not so good today. He has another vet appt on friday.
For me. Well, it's bronchitis and quite possibly walking pnemonia. Every one else is feeling better and got over their colds and the cough. Mine of course didn't go out the easy way. I spent ALL day yesterday in the dr's office. Blood tests and chest xrays! So I am home today. But I did get some good luck - Ghost Hunters internation starts tonight!! So they have been doing reruns and marathons all day today on scifi! I picked the right day to call in sick! HA HA HA! I really feel okay it's just that cough that feels like my lungs and my brain might fall out if I cough hard enough.
The internet got really messy because they (cox) screwed up our installation in a bad way. So we had to sort out that mess. But now we have the fastest internet in the west! LOL!
We have Carl whole family living under our roof. Herbs foot is doing better. We had a minor episode with his diabetes that involved calling the paremdics at 3am on NewYears Eve day. But it's all good now.
They are planning on staying until Herb can use his foot again (probably next month) and then they are going back to Salt Lake and moving their stuff down permentaly in May. They will move in with Christy so they can help each other out.
So it's off with a bang. At least it's not boring! We are keeping our head above water (no pun intended!) it's warming up and we can start functioning again. The house is slowly coming together. I'll take more pictures as we get more things done.
