Happy Inaguration Day and Maggies first dip in the pool!
I wasn't going to watch the events of today. I was disturbed at the obsession with Obama and the media coverage has become absurd and a circus. However, I happen to home today and of course it's on every channel including PBS and the Spanish stations! LOL!
I really enjoyed watching it. I was surprised in myself. I first impressed by his emotion before they presented him this morning. I am impressed at the closeness of the family and that it is a priority for him.I like him as a person. I don't agree with a majority of his policies but I hope that he can do what he says he can. I hope that he can fix this nations economy. I hope that he does a good job.
I guess you could say I am cautiously optimistic. I am about the future. Things are tough even for us, trying to play catch up from medical things and missing work, but I am hopeful. In the spring there are things to look forward to in the near future.
We've actually started doing something called Vaccination Station for cats and dogs with some friend of ours. They own the business, we go to a small pet store and in the back of the pet store a vet and a vet tech do vaccinations for cats and dogs. We (carl and I) will help get the animals with their owners, checked in and also take the money and fill out the orders for their shots and file the paper work. It's pretty easy. We've done it one weekend so far. We have his friends helping us right now but if we like it and want to do it, we'll do it on our own in March or April. It's really fun to see all the cats and dogs come in, especially the babies. We don't have to do any of the work but we do get to see them a lot, the vet and the vet tech do everything. We pay the vet and the vet tech and the rest is take home pay.
What's the difference between this and a regular vet? The cost is the biggest thing. Say for instance, a big one the microchip is normally like $40-$80 or more at the vets office at Vaccination Station, they are only $14-$20 sometimes they are only $10 if they have an abundance of them. The normal shots that pets need like Rabies and their puppies shots are a lot more at regular vet. This vet will also do an examination for free, if there is something wrong she'll refer you to a vet. They are certified and everything is legal. Sometimes you'll see them at the Petsmart places like that out front with a table. That's what this is. We can make quite a bit on that. It stays pretty busy and it's fun!
We have been unseasonably warm even for us. It's 80* and it's January. To that advantage we've had Maggie outside a lot, well Carl and her playing last night and Maggie for some reason was really excited. She wasn't paying attention and went into the pool. It was on the step. Carl said she didn't panic (I was in the house) but she was soaked. She seemed okay but when she got out we noticed her paw was bleeding. She had scrapped her claw on the pool deck trying to get out. Big dogs have an extra claw that's about a 1/4 of the way up on the back heel. That was bent and bleeding. I panicked. I was freaked about the blood. (we went through the stuff with Buster and lost him last year)She was ok. She licked it clean herself. It was bleeding a lot, just from where it was torn. Fortunately it came out on it's own when she was licking it. I called my sister who is also an almost vet (the one that works at the zoo and worked in the vets clinic) and she said it might come out on its own anyway and to make sure the bleeding stops. She was walking on it just fine and didn't seem bothered otherwise. I hope we can get her in the pool again! She didn't seem to mind to much being wet! She's nice and clean!
